Farmers for Climate Action is thrilled to announce the appointment of Brett Hosking to its board.
Mr Hosking is a fifth generation farmer who was Chair of Grain Growers Australia from 2018-2022 and a Director from 2015-2022; was the Victorian Farmers Federation Vice President from 2016 to 2018, and was also the organisation's Grains Group President from 2013 to 2017. Along with his wife Jane and his four daughters, he runs a mixed farming operation in the Mallee.
Mr Hosking said he was looking forward to beginning work with FCA.
"Having enjoyed the privilege of working alongside growers from across Australia, I have seen first hand the impacts a changing climate has had on the lives and businesses of our farmers," Mr Hosking said.
"I have also been excited to see how knowledge and innovation placed in the hands of our growers has led to higher productivity on-farm whilst at the same time reducing emissions.
"I feel really excited to be able to work with Farmers For Climate Action to support our farmers to continue producing some of the highest quality food and fibre in the world, using some of the best practices to foster a more sustainable environment."
Farmers for Climate Action Chair Charlie Prell said Mr Hosking would help Farmers for Climate Action grow into an even better organisation.
"Farmers for Climate Action is thrilled to have someone of the calibre of Mr Hosking join our board," Mr Prell said.
"Brett Hosking has an incredible history in farm representation and is well known in farm circles for his honesty, integrity and straight talking. As FCA's membership and influence continues to grow, Brett Hosking is just the sort of person who will help take us forward."
FCA CEO Fiona Davis said she had long respected Mr Hosking's work and expertise.
"As we approach 8000 farmer members, we want to be delivering the best for them and the best outcomes for all farmers. Mr Hosking's acumen and networks will help us as we aim to encourage governments to make the deep emissions reductions this decade farmers need."
