  • FCA congratulates other nominees and thanks Banksia Foundation
  • FCA continues to push for strong climate policies to protect farms and food supply

Farmers for Climate Action (FCA) is honoured to receive the Agriculture and Primary Industries Award at the Banksia National Sustainability Awards. This recognition comes at a time when farmers across Australia are facing extreme climate challenges, from devastating floods in Queensland to relentless drought in other regions.

Accepting the award on behalf of FCA, Caleb Connor, Senior Manager of Policy & Programs, expressed deep gratitude to the Banksia Foundation and award sponsors, and congratulated other nominees .

Mr Connor also expressed solidarity with farmers on the frontlines of climate change.

"Our 8,400 farmer members are proving every day that agriculture is already being hurt by climate change, and is also a critical part of the solution," Mr Connor said.

"Whether it's carbon-neutral beef production, grazing sheep under solar panels, or communities rallying together after disasters, farmers are showing Australia what resilience and innovation look like."

Over the past year, FCA has helped bring these stories to over 2 million Australians, cutting through the noise with a clear message: climate action brings farming a brighter future.

FCA CEO Natalie Collard thanked the Banksia Foundation, saying FCA's growth to 8,400 farmer members in just ten years showed how important climate action is to Australian farmers. "This recognition reinforces the importance of our mission, and we congratulate all the finalists working towards a more sustainable future.

"The work we do is backed by a very supportive board, and we thank them for their vision."

FCA's advocacy has contributed to key policy wins, including protecting the Great Artesian Basin, supporting low-emission vehicles, and demonstrating that renewables could deliver $7.7 billion to farmers by 2050. Looking ahead, FCA is preparing for the inaugural Farming Forever Summit in 2025 to help farmers continue thriving in a changing climate.

"This award strengthens our resolve to keep pushing for the policies and support farmers need," Mr Connor said. "To every farmer facing floods, drought, or uncertainty tonight: we see you, we stand with you, and we'll keep fighting for you."
