Farraway To Fight For People Of Calare

NSW Nationals

The NSW Nationals have preselected Sam Farraway as their candidate for the seat of Calare at the forthcoming Federal Election.

Mr Farraway has been a Member of the NSW Upper House since October 2019. He served as the Minister for Regional Transport and Roads, and then as the Shadow Minister following the 2023 election.

Mr Farraway has thanked preselectors for placing their trust in him.

"As a lifelong resident of the Central West and a former small business owner, this community is more than just my home; it's where my heart is," Mr Farraway said.

"Our communities need change, we need a new vision, a fresh set of ideas and change in how we are represented in Canberra."

Mr Farraway said the Central West is the best place to raise a family, build a small business, and enjoy a high quality of life. However, for this to happen, Calare needs to change.

Federal Nationals Leader, David Littleproud, welcomed Mr Farraway as The Nationals candidate for Calare.

"Australia's heading in the wrong direction under Labor. Their policies are creating enormous damage in regional and rural Australia and the only way to change direction is to change the government." Mr Littleproud said.

"We need cost-of-living relief, better access to health and aged care in regional communities, and clean, consistent and affordable power. I know Sam is the best person to stand up and fight for the people of Calare and I look forward to working with him to achieve real outcomes and practical solutions for the people of Calare."

NSW Nationals Chairman Rick Colless said Mr Farraway will be a welcome addition to The Nationals' federal team.

"Born in the Bathurst Base Hospital to a family that has been involved with the land for generations, Sam brings a wealth of experience to this campaign," Mr Colless said.

"At the age of just 18 he took over the running of his family business after his father became unwell. That business expanded to have branches right across the Central West."

"To the good people of Calare, my promise to you is if elected, I will not break my contract with you, and to always put you front and centre in my decisions." Mr Farraway said.
