Fatal Car Crash Near Orange

A woman has died in a car crash in state's central west region.

Shortly before 6pm today (Sunday 9 February 2025), emergency services were called to Cargo Road, Lake Canobolas, about 8kms west of Orange, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Officers attached to Central West Police District attended and found a car had left the road, driven into an embankment and crashed into a tree.

A passenger died at the scene.

The woman is yet to be formally identified but he is believed to be aged 42.

The driver, a 30-year-old man, was trapped in the vehicle before he was extricated.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was flown to Westmead Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

A crime scene was established and police, with the assistance of the Crash Investigation Unit, commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
