Fatal Car-Pedestrian Crash in Kingaroy: Police Update

Police have charged a 30-year-old man following an alleged fatal hit and run traffic crash in Kingaroy yesterday.

Emergency services were called to First Avenue around 5am after a black Mercedes allegedly struck a 36-year-old Kingaroy man, before the vehicle left the scene.

It will be alleged the man was walking with another 27-year-old man, when he was hit by the vehicle.

The 36-year-old was declared deceased at the scene.

The 27-year-old man was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Subsequent investigations led police to locate a Mercedes at an address on Boonenne Ellesmere Road in Taabinga, and the 30-year-old man was taken into custody.

He has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, driving of a motor vehicle without a driver licence and driver fail to remain at incident and render assistance.

He is due before Murgon Magistrates Court today, September 4.
