Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision in Laverton North last night.
Emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Dohertys and Fitzgerald roads about 10.10pm.
A passenger from the first vehicle, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
The driver of that vehicle was taken to hospital.
The occupants of the second vehicle did not suffer any serious injuries.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing.
Investigators are keen to speak to anyone with dash cam footage or anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
