Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision which occurred in Upper Plenty on Monday evening.
Investigators were called to Whittlesea-Wallan Road about 5.30pm after reports of a collision between a Hyundai sedan and a Toyota utility.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 19-year-old man from Upper Plenty, died at the scene.
The driver of the ute, a 53-year-old man from Springfield, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
