Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in the Blue Mountains today, NSW Police say.
About 10.45am today, police and emergency services responded to reports of a car and truck crash on the Great Western Highway at Blackheath.
A man driving the car, aged in his 70s, was trapped for a short time but died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.
The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was taken by NSW Ambulance Paramedics to Katoomba Hospital for further medical checks.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are underway and a crime scene has been established.
The Great Western Highway is currently closed eastbound.
Local traffic diversions are in place at Darling Causeway, Mt Victoria for eastbound traffic.
A contra flow is in place at the scene for westbound traffic.
