On Monday evening the 27 November 2017 1005pm a male from Hadspen was the sole occupant and driver of a Silver Ford Falcon that was travelling east on Meander Valley Road near Travellers Rest. It appears from initial investigation that the vehicle was travelling at excessive speed and the driver has lost control of the vehicle as it attempted to negotiate a slight right hand bend. The vehicle has slid across the eastbound lane and struck the embankment and became airborne and has come to rest when it hit a large tree, Tasmania Police say.
Tasmania Ambulance and Tasmania Fire Brigade from Hadspen and Launceston attended the scene but the male was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
Northern Police attended the scene including Crash Investigation and Forensic Police.
A report will be completed for the Coroner.
