Fatal crash near Albury, NSW

A man has died following a fatal crash near Albury today, NSW Police say.

About 12.45pm today, emergency services were called to the Olympic Highway, Gerogery, south of Five Mates Crossing Bridge, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Police have been told a Ford Falcon station wagon travelling north and a truck travelling south collided.

The driver of the Ford, a man aged in his 50s, died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the truck, a 59-year-old man, was trapped for a short time. He was extricated and taken to Albury Base Hospital for treatment and mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers from Albury Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The Olympic Highway remains closed in both directions while the scene is examined.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
