A man has died and two people have been hospitalised after a crash near Nowra today, NSW Police say.
Just after 12.30pm today, emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, about two kilometres from Sussex Inlet Road at Wandandian, following reports of a crash.
Police have been told a Mitsubishi utility towing a boat and a Jeep Cherokee. As a result of the collision, the utility caught fire.
The sole occupant and driver of the utility died at the scene. The identity of the driver has not yet been confirmed.
The driver of the Jeep, a 63-year-old man, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being airlifted to St George Hospital in a serious condition.
His female passenger was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The Princes Highway was closed in both directions for about six hours while officers from the Crash Investigation Unit examined the scene.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit are continuing their inquiries and urging anyone who witnessed the crash to come to contact Crime Stoppers.
