Fatal Crash on Goderich St, Invermay: Police Responding

Sadly, a 68 year-old man has died following a crash at Goderich Street, Invermay today.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene about 6.51am.

Initial inquiries indicate the man was travelling south on the East Tamar Highway onto Goderich Street in a Volvo truck towing a trailer when it crossed to the opposite side of the road.

The truck crashed into a Toyota Corolla containing two occupants which was travelling north on Goderich Street before crashing into the rear of a residence on Howard Street.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the driver of the truck died at the scene.

A 48 year-old woman, who was the driver of the Toyota and her passenger, a 24 year-old man were taken to the Launceston General Hospital with serious non life-threatening injuries.

Our thoughts are with the man's family and loved ones. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
