Sadly, a man has died after a serious crash on the Bass Highway at Ulverstone earlier today.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene just before noon on Thursday after reports two vehicles had crashed.

A 68-year-old Penguin man – who was a passenger in one of the vehicles – received serious injuries and was treated by paramedics.

Sadly, he died at the scene.

A driver and another passenger received non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the North West Regional Hospital.

The highway was closed for several hours as a result of the crash.

Investigations are ongoing, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Our thoughts are with the man's family and loved ones.
