Fatal House Fire in Heckenberg: Emergency Crews Onsite

A woman and a child have died in a house fire in Sydney's south west overnight.

About 12.40am today (Wednesday 19 February 2025) emergency services were called to St Johns Road, Heckenberg, following reports of a house fire.

Fire and Rescue Crews attended and extinguished the blaze; which caused extensive damage to the house.

Upon entering the house, police and fire crews located a 46-year-old woman and a six-year-old girl deceased inside.

They are yet to be formally identified.

Eight other people – four children and four adults – who were inside the house at the time, escaped the blaze.

They were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

A girl was taken to Westmead Children's Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

A man was taken to Concord Hospital in a critical condition.

A second child and a second man were taken to Liverpool Hospital.

Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
