Fatal Pedestrian Crash At Mission Beach

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the death of a pedestrian at Mission Beach this morning, August 14.

Emergency services were called to Marine Parade at 11:30am, following reports two people had been struck by a truck.

A 67-year-old man died at the scene, and a 63-year-old woman was taken to Innisfail Hospital with minor injuries.

Investigations are ongoing, anyone with information or relevant vision is urged to contact police.

Marine Parade is closed in both directions and Porter Promenade is closed between Boyett Street to the north, and Campbell Street to the south.

Motorists are urged to find alternative routes and expect delays for several hours.

The Queensland Police Service is committed to reducing number of lives lost on our roads.

Data shows that serious crashes can be significantly reduced when drivers recognise and avoid the 'Fatal Five' behaviours: speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue and distraction.
