A teenage boy has died after a crash in the states Central Tablelands.
About 6pm yesterday (Friday 2 August 2024), emergency services responded to reports of two male pedestrians – aged 13 and 24 - being struck by a vehicle along the Great Western Highway, Bowenfels, approximately 3km south of Lithgow.
Bystanders performed CPR on the 13-year-old boy until the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics where he was taken to Lithgow Hospital in a critical condition before being airlifted to Westmead Children's Hospital where he later died.
The 24-year-old man was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The driver – a 45-year-old man – was uninjured. He was taken to Lithgow Hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from Chifley Police District established a crime scene that was examined by specialist police.
A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
