The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a crash in Mossman in which a pedestrian has died.
Emergency crews were called to Junction Road after a woman was located on the roadway by a passing motorist at 6.27pm.
The 37-year-old Mossman woman was subsequently declared deceased at the scene.
Initial investigations indicate the woman had been struck by a vehicle, which has failed to remain at the scene.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who was travelling in the area between 6:15pm and 6:40pm to contact police.
Forensic Crash Unit officers are also appealing for the driver involved in the incident or anyone with further information to contact police.
