A child has died following a single vehicle crash in the state's west today.
About 8.30am (Sunday 13 October 2024), emergency services were called to the Barrier Highway, Cubba, about 25km west of Cobar, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Central North Police District attended and found a car had left the roadway and rolled.
A boy – believed to be aged 14 – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.
The driver, a 23-year-old woman was uninjured and has been arrested and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
The other two passengers were uninjured.
A crime scene has been established, and an investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
The Barrier Highway is closed in both directions at Cubba, between Kidman Way and the Cobb Highway.
Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to delay their travel until the highway reopens.
