Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle rollover in Lockhart River this morning, December 24.
Initial investigations indicate around 11.10am, a silver Toyota Avalon was travelling east on Piiramo Street, when it veered off the left side of the road, rolled, and came to a rest against a tree.
The driver, a 17-year-old Lockhart River girl, died at the scene.
One passenger suffered non-life-threatening facial and body injuries.
Two other passengers were not injured.
Lockhart River Police, with the assistance from the specialist unit of Far North District Forensic Crash Unit, are investigating the circumstances of the crash and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or may have relevant dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward.
