The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a fatal traffic crash in Wongabel last night, April 4.
Police and emergency services were called to Atherton Herberton Road about 7.50pm to reports of a two-vehicle traffic crash.
Initial investigations indicate, a Ford Courier and a Toyota RAV4 were travelling in opposite directions when they have collided.
The driver and sole occupant of the Ford Courier, a 33-year-old Bayview Heights man was treated for serious injuries, however, was declared deceased.
The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota, a 45-year-old Atherton woman sustained serious injuries and was transported to Atherton Hospital in a stable condition.
Atherton Herberton Road, between Wongabel Road and Mount Baldy Bridge Road is closed.
The road is expected to be closed for a number of hours while crews clear the road.
Motorist are advised to avoid the area or expect delays.
Investigations are ongoing.
