Fatal Traffic Crash at Fitzgerald Creek Near Innisfail

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after two people died following a traffic crash north of Innisfail this morning, August 9.

Initial information indicates two vehicles collided on the Bruce Highway just after 11:30am.

Upon arrival, two people were declared deceased.

Another person was airlifted to Cairns Hospital.

The Bruce Highway through Fitzgerald Creek is closed in both directions.

Diversions are in place for small vehicles however motorists are urged to avoid the area or expect lengthy delays.

Investigations are continuing.

Anyone with information or dashcam that could assist the investigation is urged to contact police.
