Police are investigating a fatal traffic incident that occurred at The Gemfields on August 12, Queensland Police say.
At about 9.10pm on Rubyvale-Saphire Road, a man was seriously injured when exiting his vehicle after being dragged approximately five meters before the vehicle went down an embankment.
The 79-year-old man was transported to Emerald Hospital for medical treatment and later flown to Townsville Hospital where he was pronounced deceased on August 13.
No one else was injured during the incident.
Forensic Crash Unit are investigating.
