A man and woman have died following a two-vehicle crash in the state's Northern Rivers region.
About 10.30pm yesterday (Sunday 19 May 2024), emergency services were called to Yamba Road, Maclean, following reports two vehicles had collided head-on.
The driver of a red SUV – a 68-year-old woman – and the driver of a white ute – a 25-year-old man – died at the scene.
Two passengers of the ute – a man believed to be aged in his 30s, and a 41-year-old man – were freed from the vehicle by members of the NSW State Emergency Service before they were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
