The Minerals Council of Australia is deeply saddened by the fatality yesterday afternoon at the Oaky Creek Coal Mine in Queensland, as well as the injury of another worker who was airlifted to hospital for treatment.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to both workers' families, friends, and colleagues of the individual who lost their life and offer our support to the injured worker and their loved ones.
Safety and health remain the highest priorities for our industry. One fatality is one too many, and any loss of life or injury is a stark reminder of the critical importance of our ongoing efforts to ensure every worker returns home safe, free from harm or injury.
