Due to damage from the recent storm events, Council is experiencing several service interruptions.
As new information is available, updates and resources will be provided below.
15 February Update
Baw Baw Shire Council's phone lines have been restored and you can now contact Customer Service on 5624 2411.
As a result of Tuesday afternoon's storm Council is continuing to work through a large number of requests for assistance, mainly for fallen trees and blocked roads.
We are prioritising these requests based on urgency and impact and will work through them as quickly as possible.
Council officers are actively working to clear any blocked road across the Shire, however unfortunately, progress is being hindered by the presence of downed power lines. When Council comes across these hazards, the protocol is to report these to Ausnet and close the affected roads for safety reasons. A list of blocked roads that Council is currently aware of includes:
- Mahoneys Road, Yarragon
- Cemetery Road, Yarragon
- Yarragon Leongatha Road, Yarragon South
- Wagner Road, Neerim South
- Darnum Park Road, Darnum
- Rokeby Jindivick Road, Rokeby
Due to limited network availability, Council crews are unable to utilise their usual programs and systems for logging jobs. As a result, the process of collating data is slower than usual.
We are also aware that some Council run facilities have experienced damage due to the severe wind and rain, including the Drouin Recreation Reserve, including its social club rooms, and the Trafalgar Recreation Reserve. Council will work with the local clubs to assess the damage and get remedial works underway.
We are aware of the significant impact that power outages are having across the Shire, and how stressful this can be.
Ausnet has an outage tracker that we encourage our residents to view. This has a list of suburbs and the estimated time of assessment or power restoration, visit www.outagetracker.com.au
If you don't see your suburb listed, you can report a fault (including fallen powerlines or trees down on powerlines) to AusNet online at www.ausnetservices.com.au/report-a-fault
Also, ensure your mobile number is up to date with your electricity retailer so AusNet can send you SMS updates over the coming days.
Council will continue to provide updates to the community as the situation across the Shire changes.
14 February Update
Due to damage resulting from the recent storm event, Baw Baw Shire Council is currently experiencing a system wide phone outage and cannot receive any phone calls at this time.
Customers needing to lodge a non-urgent request can do so by using the Snap Send Solve app or via the Live Chat function on our website.
Council is currently responding to an extremely high volume of requests across the Shire, including trees over roads as well as other incidents. We will work through these as quickly as possible, prioritising incidents on a case by case with safety and risk to people and property the primary concern.
