The Albanese Labor Government's $1 million commitment towards the restoration of the Yass Showground has taken a major step forward today, with a funding agreement now in place with the Yass Show Society.
This agreement paves the way for works to begin, which will see the grandstand restored to its original state, with significant improvements to be made, including:
- Replacement of the grandstand roof and replacement of the corrugated iron wall sheeting with Colourbond
- Electrical upgrades including installation of lighting
- Installation of two handrails on the stairs and balustrades
- Repair of flooring, seating and landing
- Installation of a reverse cycle air-conditioning to the supper room
The project is being fully funded under the Albanese Government's Investing in Our Communities Program.
Under this program, the Government is delivering community and sporting infrastructure, open space improvements and other community priorities intended to assist communities to build their strengths and improve liveability.
