The Tasmanian Liberal Government welcomes the Federal Liberal Opposition's commitment to a new Urgent Care Clinic in Sorell.
Minister for Health, Jacquie Petrusma, said a new clinic would mean more people can access General Practitioner (GP) services faster.
"We're pleased to see the Federal Liberal Opposition taking primary healthcare seriously and making this commitment," Minister Petrusma said.
"Every Tasmanian deserves access to affordable GP services including bulk billing, no matter where they live, and we've been putting the case to Federal Labor for more than a year for additional UCC locations in Tasmania's regions, including in Sorell.
"It's time for Federal Labor to make the same commitment, instead of having their candidates spruik a sham petition calling on their own party to announce one.
"Our Government stands ready to assist in operating the new Sorell clinic by completing the tendering and contracting, like we have for existing UCCs.
"We continue to call on the Federal Government for more new UCC locations to support Tasmania's health needs in growing regional areas across the State.
"Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, our Government is building an even better health system."
