The Tasmanian Government is building a better health system that delivers the best possible outcomes for Tasmanians right across the State.
In line with this commitment, Bicheno residents and the wider East Coast community are encouraged to view the Bicheno Ambulance Station's site plan and architectural renders, which will be on public display and available for public comment at the Bicheno Public Library from today.
"The new station will house all of Ambulance Tasmania's needs at a single location and provide purpose-built facilities, enhancing emergency care to residents of Bicheno and the surrounding areas," Minister Petrusma said.
"It will feature a drive-through garage with designated infection control areas, training facilities, ambulance cleaning facilities, and separate accommodation for volunteer ambulance officers while on shift.
"Importantly, the new station will ensure there is capacity for upgrading from the current single branch station to meet the emergency medical needs of the community into the future, as the demand for services increases."
The Tasmanian Government has consulted closely with Ambulance Tasmania and the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council and listened to the community's feedback when selecting a government owned site at Lot 1, 19 Sinclair Street, Bicheno to house the new station.
Neighbours have been invited to engage with the project team on specific aspects of the detailed design.
The designs will be on display at the Library during opening hours, from Saturday, 16 November 2024 until Saturday, 30 November 2024.
Construction is expected to start in mid-2025 and be complete in mid-2026.
The Bicheno Ambulance Station is one of six rural and regional stations delivered under the Tasmanian Liberal Government.
Importantly, a further four new ambulance stations across the State at Snug, Legana, King Island and Cygnet, have been committed to as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.
