Public consultation is now open for the Justice Miscellaneous (Explosive Offences) Bill 2025.
The Justice Miscellaneous (Explosive Offences) Bill 2025 seeks to amend the Criminal Code Act 1924 and the Police Offences Act 1935.
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Guy Barnett, said the Tasmanian Government will continue to ensure Tasmania's legislation is fit-for-purpose in 2025.
"We're ensuring our police have the legislation they need to crack down on criminal activity in our community," the Attorney-General said.
"This legislative proposal aims to address gaps in the current laws concerning explosive devices and substances, in particular 'homemade' or 'improvised' explosive devices.
"Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future we're continuing to make improvements to our legislation to keep all Tasmanians safe."

Submissions in response to the Bill close on 2 March 2025.
