Daniel Sheward is awarded the prize in recognition of his work on viral immunology, particularly his crucial contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It is always gratifying to receive recognition and validation that what you're doing is important! But, of course, there's always more work to be done. Since there isn't any formal prize ceremony, I will just have a small celebration with my lab", says Daniel Sheward.

The Fenyö Prize is awarded annually to talented early-career researchers in Sweden working in the field of virology. The prize includes a grant of 100,000 SEK to promote virology research.
