Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez will travel to Nuuk, Greenland November 19-21 to meet with Greenlandic government officials, private sector representatives, and research institutions to discuss economic and investment opportunities in Greenland's mineral sector.
Under Secretary Fernandez will meet with Greenlandic officials to discuss diversifying critical mineral supply chains and recent progress in the Minerals Security Partnership (MSP), as well as opportunities for increased scientific and economic cooperation between the United States and Greenland.
Under Secretary Fernandez will lead a multilateral MSP dialogue, joined both in-person and virtually by MSP partners, and participants representing the Minerals Investment Network for Vital Energy Security and Transition (MINVEST), a public-private partnership between the U.S. Department of State and the energy security NGO SAFE's Center for Critical Minerals Strategy. The participants will review Greenland's minerals sector and hear about commercial opportunities from Greenlandic business leaders and local industry players. This event is made possible by Greenland's membership in the MSP Forum, a partnership between MSP countries and mineral-producing countries that advances critical mineral projects and discusses important policy issues affecting critical mineral supply chains.
Under Secretary Fernandez will also meet with Greenlandic specialists at local research institutions to discuss the impacts of climate change on Greenland and opportunities for scientific cooperation.
