The City of Canada Bay regrets to inform that Ferragosto 2021 has been cancelled.
"This August, we were looking forward to bringing back our much-loved Ferragosto festival," City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said. "However, to ensure the safety of our community and due to the constraints of planning the event under current COVID-19 restrictions, our 2021 festival has been cancelled."
"This decision has not been made lightly and I would like to thank all of our fantastic sponsors and supporters who have worked closely with us to bring back Ferragosto this year."
The City of Canada Bay's Italian street festival held on Great North Road, Five Dock attracts over 100,000 participants annually.
"I would also like to thank our community for their efforts over the last few weeks to help stop the spread of COVID-19, and I can't wait to see everyone back on Great North Road in 2022 when Ferragosto will return bigger and better than ever."
Mayor Tsirekas also urged residents to support local business in Five Dock and throughout the City of Canada Bay during the current restrictions.
"I strongly encourage our community to shop local and support our small businesses. They have been devastated by the lockdown and we can all do our bit to help to make sure they survive these current restrictions and thrive on the other side."
