Wagga Wagga's Festival of W gives you more to explore this weekend.
From Friday 12 July to Sunday 14 July extra light play elements, live music and an interactive silent disco are added to the festival lineup.
"We're encouraging all festival-goers, even if you have visited the festival during the first week, to rug up and come along this weekend as there's new free experiences to be enjoyed," Council's Events Officer Emma Corbett said.
"For this weekend only, you can weave and tangle your way through UV Spaghetti – an eight-metre long canopy of tactile light strands. You can enjoy the installation Shisk-Ka-Buoy, which are larger-than-life illuminated towers made from recycled marine buoys, that will pierce the night sky with a rainbow of neon colours.
"Be sure to look up in the trees for the neon silly string draping through the branches and add a striking, colourful feature to the Victory Memorial Gardens.
"Live music will be provided Friday and Saturday night, with a great line up of local and regional First Nations artists taking to the stage in celebration of NAIDOC Week."
A silent disco experience: Silent Dis-FoW will get festival-goers shimmying their way through the festival ground, as a fun, interactive way to experience the festival.
All of this is in addition to Lightvision – the free major light and sound show in and around the Wollundry Lagoon –, the Skate Wagga Wagga ice rink and House of FoW with warming festival food and beverages and fire buckets to enjoy.
A temporary road closure to create a pedestrian precinct on Baylis Street between the Victory Memorial Gardens and the Wollundry Lagoon precinct will be in place from Friday 12 July 2024 to the evening of Monday 15 July 2024.
"We're so thrilled with the response to the festival to date. It's wonderful seeing residents and visitors of all ages embracing Wagga Wagga's winter to come out and experience our city in new and exciting ways, and we look forward to that extending through this weekend and next week," Ms Corbett said.
"Skate Wagga Wagga, as always, continues to prove its popularity with young and old skaters taking to the rink in all weather conditions.
"The cozy House of FoW dining hub has been humming both day and night as people enjoy the wonderful food from Wagga Wagga's Mr Lawrence team and the atmosphere inside and outside around the fire buckets."
Festival of W is proudly presented and delivered by Wagga Wagga City Council with sponsorship from creative producers Mandylights for the contributions to Lightvision, and the NSW Government for funding the special pop-up street activations this weekend.
