Fever Builds As Aussie Powerball Skyrockets to $100M

By Newsroom

The Powerball has skyrocketed to a jaw-dropping $100 million for next Thursday’s draw after no Division One winners emerged in tonight’s $50 million Powerball Draw 1488.

The winning numbers were 11, 22, 30, 31, 19, 15, and 3, with the Powerball number 2.

To win the jackpot, you need to match all seven winning numbers plus the Powerball number in a single row, presenting extremely high odds of 1 in 134 million.

The $100 million prize is the equal third-biggest jackpot offered by any Australian lottery in 2024 and the sixth-largest in the country’s history. The excitement comes as Powerball went jackpot-free for four consecutive draws, fueling anticipation for next week’s blockbuster event.

Tonight’s draw wasn’t a total loss, with over 1.5 million winners in Divisions Two to Nine sharing more than $31.89 million. Two Division Two winners each pocketed $443,998.95, adding to the growing buzz.

The festive season now brings hope to millions of Australians dreaming of a life-changing win. Powerball entries are expected to soar, with up to half of Australia’s adult population predicted to participate in next week’s draw.

“Christmas is a time for dreaming big, and with $100 million on the line in Powerball, those dreams could become a reality this festive season and beyond,” Anna Hobdell, spokesperson for The Lott said after the draw.

“If just one player wins this entire $100 million prize, they’ll not only expect to receive a multi-million-dollar boost to their bank account, but they’ll also share the crown of Australia’s third biggest individual lottery winner ever.”

Entries into next week’s $100 million Powerball draw close at 7.30pm AEST on Thursday 28 November.

So far in 2024, three Australians have won $100 million each in Powerball. In one unforgettable draw earlier this year, an Adelaide man claimed $150 million, the largest individual lottery prize in Australian history.

This year, Powerball has created 16 Division One winners, collectively taking home more than $661 million. Most of these winners hailed from New South Wales (8), followed by Queensland (5), with Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia producing one winner each.
