Detectives have charged a fifth man over the alleged stabbing and attempted murder of two men in Surry Hills.
Shortly after 3am on Saturday 29 July 2023, emergency services were called to Oxford Street, following reports of a stabbing outside a nightclub.
Police will allege in court that a 25-year-old man was approached by a group of men – armed with knives – and stabbed multiple times. A 34-year-old man was also allegedly stabbed, when he went to the aid of the younger man.
The younger man was driven to St Vincent's Hospital by friends, where he was treated for his injuries.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the older man, and he was conveyed to hospital for injuries sustained to his arm and hand.
Both have since been released from hospital.
Officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Jacob.
During the course of the investigation, strike force investigators charged four men, aged 18, 18, 21 and 21, who remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, detectives arrested a 20-year-old man at a correctional centre in Silverwater, around 9am today (Thursday 7 December 2023).
He was charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder, affray, and reckless wounding - in company.
The man was refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court tomorrow (Friday 8 December 2023).
Inquiries under Strike Force Jacob are ongoing.
