The United States and Republic of Korea (ROK) will hold the fifth meeting of the Extended Deterrence Strategy and Consultation Group on September 4, 2024, at the Department of State. This meeting provides an important forum for comprehensive discussions on strategic policy issues on the Korean Peninsula and in the Indo-Pacific impacting the Alliance and extended deterrence. The meeting will include a session open to the press, at which remarks will be delivered by ROK First Vice Minister for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kim Hong Kyun, ROK Deputy Minister of National Defense Policy Cho Chang Rae, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Bonnie D. Jenkins, and Acting Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Cara Abercrombie.
