Georges River Council is reminding community members and visitors to try out e-scooters in Kogarah before the E-Scooter Shared Scheme Trial ends midnight on 10 January 2025.
Council proudly partnered with Transport for NSW and Beam to become the first Sydney Metro shared e-scooter trial that commenced on 10 January 2024.
Riders 16 years and older are able to hire a Beam e-scooter in Kogarah's trial area in the town centre until the end of the trial. Locals and visitors are able to scoot to existing bus and train stations, St George Hospital, St George TAFE, Jubilee Stadium, community services and cafes.
As the trial comes to a close, Council would like to remind people who have become regular e-scooter users to plan for alternative transport from 11 January and to send in feedback through Council's Your Say page.
The initial stage has proved popular with residents and visitors, with 2,023 rides in the first month, averaging more than one kilometre per ride.
The trial showed a total of 950 trips start at a station (Kogarah, Allawah, Carlton) and 561 trips end at a station.

The most popular routes include riding along Railway Parade near Kogarah Station, Jubilee Avenue, Gray Street, Belgrave Street and Kensington Street. Friday was the most popular day of the week for e-scooter rides.
From 10 January to 10 December, there have been a total of 10,278 trips with 8,930.63 kilometres travelled, and there were 3670 unique riders. The total ride time was 1282 hours and 28 minutes, with an average rider duration of 7.29 minutes.
After the trial, all results and feedback from Council's Your Say consultation and Local Working Group stakeholders will be prepared into a report. It will be shared with Transport for NSW to inform the decision about what happens next for e-scooters in NSW.
