Final Days For Territorians To Help Shape Their Future

NT Government

Territorians have until this Friday, 17 January 2025, to provide their input on one of the most significant economic reforms in our history - the Territory Coordinator legislation.

Since releasing the draft Territory Coordinator Bill in November, six consultation forums have engaged residents, businesses, and stakeholders on this critical new role.

The Territory Coordinator is an initiative by the Finocchiaro CLP Government to slash red tape, streamline approvals, and position the NT as Australia's most attractive destination for major investment.

Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro highlighted the transformative impact this role would have on the Territory's economic future.

"The Territory Coordinator is about action, ambition, and outcomes. It's about creating a clear, efficient path for projects that will define the next chapter of the Northern Territory - projects that generate jobs, grow businesses, and attract global investment to our doorstep," said Mrs Finocchiaro.

"The Territory Coordinator's work will unlock the Territory's potential as an economic powerhouse, ensuring we lead the nation in attracting large-scale developments."

The Territory Coordinator's remit includes supporting sustainable economic growth, facilitating private sector investment, and streamlining approval processes to eliminate costly delays.

By aligning government priorities with the needs of investors, the role is central to building the NT's reputation as a global destination for business and development.

"This is about securing our future," said Mrs Finocchiaro.

"Every Territorian has a stake in this - every job created, every dollar invested, and every project completed will strengthen our communities. I urge all Territorians to take this final opportunity to have their say.

"This is all part of our plan to rebuild the economy."
