I note that the CEO of Airservices Australia, Mr Jason Harfield, has provided my Department with the final report of the Independent Review of the 'Brisbane New Parallel Runway Flight Paths Post Implementation Review (PIR)'.
My office has also been engaging with the Chair of the Brisbane Airport Post Implementation Review Advisory Forum, who will also provide views on the final report to my Department in coming days.
This is the second and final phase of a review by Trax International, a technical advisor appointed by the CEO of Airservices to independently review and make improvement recommendations across all aspects of the PIR.
Trax's review had a particular focus on opportunities to limit and, where possible, reduce the impacts of aircraft noise.
The options identified in the report from Trax will now be progressed by Airservices through the PIR process, with further community consultation to occur in September and October ahead of finalising the PIR in November.
"My Department is currently considering the report and I look forward to receiving their advice shortly."
"This important report will help inform the Government's consideration of longer-term options for aircraft noise management and other issues which will be explored in detail through the Aviation White Paper, including ideas such as increased independence for the Aircraft Noise Ombudsman."
"We will proceed with our election commitment to establish a permanent, independent community consultation body to provide advice on how to better manage aircraft noise around Brisbane Airport."
"This body will directly engage with the airport operator, Brisbane Airport Corporation and Airservices on noise issues around the airport".
