Final Week To Enter Festive Flags Competition

Young artists have one week left to help bring Christmas cheer to Townsville by entering their unique artwork into this year's Festive Flags competition.

The competition has been running since 2018 and gives 20 young people the chance to have their Christmas designs displayed on flags across the city.

Councillor Brodie Phillips said this year's theme was traditional North Queensland Christmas.

"The Festive Flags competition is open to all students from grade one to grade 12, with 20 special winners' artworks being placed across the city, including The Strand, the city centre and Riverway," Cr Phillips said.

"This year we're asking for our young artists to draw what a traditional North Queensland Christmas looks like to them.

"We want to see some creative entries, so jump onto Council's website to download the template and get drawing now."

Entries into the Festive Flags competition close at 5pm on Sunday 29 September.
