Financial support for residents and business

Residents and businesses experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19 and having difficulty paying their rates, are urged to contact Council for assistance.

All ratepayers should have now received their half-yearly rates notice, issued 22 July, with a due date of Wednesday 25 August 2021.

Anyone who has not yet received their notice is asked to contact Council as soon as possible by phoning 1300 692 247.

Under Council's financial hardship policy, eligible ratepayers can enter into interest free, extended payment plans.

Those residents finding it difficult to pay their rates should complete the rates hardship relief online form at www.cairns.qld.gov.au/covidhardship and a Council officer will be in contact to discuss repayment options.

Businesses can find information on government assistance (Federal, State and Local) online at www.cairns.qld.gov.au/council/covid19/business-support

Residents can now opt to receive future rates notices by email via Council's website, by providing their name, email address and property assessment number, found on the top right hand corner of any existing notice.

They can also request a Bpay View version via their internet banking.
