The ACIC Graduate Program
The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) Graduate Program provides students graduating university in 2024 - or within the last 3 years - a fantastic opportunity to develop professional skills. We provide mission critical intelligence to help combat the threats Australia faces from transnational serious and organised crime. As a new recruit you will get a chance to work alongside some of the country's most innovative, passionate and intelligent people!
Over the course of 10 months, graduates will complete various rotations, and a comprehensive development program aligned to specific roles, including a mix of on-the-job and formal learning. At the end of the program, graduates launch straight into an exciting new role as part of an ACIC team.
Our integrated view of crime is made possible through our connected systems and unique capabilities - all of which are implemented by a diverse agency of people. Regardless of work experience and background, there is a role in the ACIC for all, whether that be in our Intelligence Group or our Corporate Group. We want staff who represent all parts of our society - and the communities we protect.
ACIC Chief Operating Officer Nicole Mayo has oversight of the program which has seen more than 50 graduates pass through since it officially began last year.
"I have loved seeing the impact that our graduates have on each team they join, even if it's just for a few short months. Thanks to their contributions and fresh perspectives, we can continue to adapt capabilities to combat the everchanging serious and organised crime environment," said Nicole.
With our program predominately based in Canberra, some of our recruits are required to move interstate for their rotations, a time of great change that can be quite an adjustment for some. Not only do we offer relocation assistance, but graduates are supported to make a difference from day one. Through our buddy system with the previous year's graduates and continuous check-ins from our Entry Programs Team and participating supervisors, we endeavour to ensure they feel a part of a team that shares a strong and united vision. We also hold regular networking events to help the cohort foster relationships with fellow graduates.
Current ACIC graduate Samuel is off to a great start with support from all angles to ensure he is not only settling into the program, but making the most of this invaluable learning opportunity.
"I have been blown away by the sense of camaraderie and welcome within the ACIC community. Right from induction week and my first meetings with senior colleagues, I've been met with nothing but friendly faces. It's been a delight to connect with other graduates and staff members to begin building those networks integral to a successful career," said Samuel.
