Sleek, beautiful, and intelligent, they can be independent, fussy and playful, as well as soothing, therapeutic and majestic.
Cats have been kept as pets for thousands of years and they remain one of our most cherished animal companions.
While cats can be great companions, unfortunately many end up lost, abandoned, or surrendered to Council.
Council is once again teaming up with local rehoming organisations to help rescue cats and kittens find their "purrfect" forever homes.
Cat Adoption Day will take place this Saturday (15 February), giving residents the opportunity to meet adorable cats and kittens ready for adoption from 9am to noon.
Since launching in 2019, Council's adoption days have successfully rehomed more than 390 cats and dogs.
The event is an important way to support local rehoming groups, which play a vital role in finding new homes for pets in need.
Council works closely with local rehoming organisations, including YAPS, Adopt Me Kittens, Rags to Riches, RSPCA and 4 The Love of Cats, to give as many of these animals a second chance.
The event will be held at the Animal Care & Education Centre, 55-57 Links Drive, Woree.
