Indigo Shire Council is asking community members to share their thoughts on the management and location of off-leash dog areas in Beechworth.

Five potential off-leash dog sites have been identified for community feedback including (but not limited to) the existing off-leash space at Baarmutha Park, Queen Victoria Park, Centennial Park, Wallace Park and Mayday Hills Oval.

Indigo Shire Mayor, Councillor Bernard Gaffney, encourages all community members who use these spaces to have their say.

"Baarmutha Park is an active hub for dog-walkers, golfers and sporting groups alike, and we want to make sure we're listening to each group and respecting their needs," Cr Gaffney said.

"This is a great opportunity for Beechworth residents to get involved and share their thoughts on the five suggested locations and their ideas for other potential off-leash sites in Beechworth, as well as how to best manage these spaces moving into the future."

Community members can provide their feedback online here or in person at a drop-in session detailed below:

  • Walk and Talk: Baarmutha Park (meet at the footy club entrance), Monday 26 August, 7:30 – 8:30am and 5 – 6pm
  • Drop-In Session: Beechworth Library, Wednesday 28 August, 12 – 1pm
