The Country Fire Authority (CFA) has declared the Fire Danger Period (FDP) for Cardinia Shire will begin at 1am Monday 9 December 2024.
When the Fire Danger Period has been declared, fire restrictions come into force across the municipality. The CFA details all restrictions that apply, on their website.
Ahead of this period, residents are encouraged to clean up their properties of all overgrown grass and weeds, fallen branches and dead vegetation that may present a fire hazard.
Larger rural and agricultural properties must create a firebreak at least 10 metres wide along external fences by slashing grass and weeds to less than 10 centimetres.
Cardinia Shire residents can dispose of their green waste for free between Monday 9 December and Saturday 14 December at the Future Recycling Transfer Station in Pakenham.
Future Recycling Transfer Station
- Address: 30-32 Exchange Drive, Pakenham
- Monday to Friday: 7:30am - 4pm
- Saturday: 8am – 2:30pm
When travelling outside of Cardinia Shire throughout summer, stay safe by taking note of the fire danger period and restrictions that apply in your travel destination.
