Fire Investigation At Cairns

Police are investigating following a house fire in Cairns this morning, July 31.

At approximately 12.30am, emergency services were called to an abandoned property engulfed in flames on the Esplanade.

A crime scene has been declared and once safe, emergency services will conduct a search of the property.

It is unknown if the dwelling was occupied at the time of the fire.

A PSPA Declaration was declared at 12.40am and revoked at about 2.35am.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and investigations are ongoing.

Police are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam vision from the Esplanade, between Charles Street and McKenzie Street, to come forward.
