Police are appealing for public assistance after a firearm was reported stolen from a rural property in the Southern Tablelands, NSW Police say.
A man from Bookham, near Yass, contacted police to report the .223 Howa rifle had gone missing from an unlocked cupboard at his Hume Highway property between Friday 17 and Friday 24 February 2017.
Officers are now appealing for any person with information about the theft or the whereabouts of the gun to come forward.
Meanwhile, police suspended the 52-year-old man’s firearms licence and seized six other registered firearms from the property. Investigations into safe firearm storage are ongoing.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
