Three people will face court next month after firearms, prohibited weapons, and illicit drugs were seized during a proactive police operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs (OMCG) in the Shoalhaven region, NSW Police say.
Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad established Strike Force Shuttleworth to investigate the activities of the Hells Angels OMCG in the local area.
As part of their ongoing inquiries, strike force investigators, with the assistance of and Shoalhaven Police District and Strike Force Raptor, conducted a proactive operation from 7am yesterday (Wednesday 14 February 2018).
Officers conducted Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) searches at five homes at Basin View, Sanctuary Point, St Georges Basin, and Tomerong.
During the searches, police seized a loaded 10-shot 12-gauge shotgun, a .22 calibre rifle with silencer, an air rifle, replica pistol, ammunition, an electronic stun device, knuckledusters, tablets, believed to be ecstasy; methylamphetamine, cannabis plants, seeds, and cannabis; prescription drugs, peptides, knives, sling shots, and throwing stars.
A 24-year-old St Georges Basin man was arrested and charged with two counts of possess unauthorised firearm, possess ammunition, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, cultivate prohibited plant, and two counts of possess prohibited drug.
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Nowra Local Court on Monday 5 March 2018.
A 65-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman will be served a Future Court Attendance Notice for prohibited weapon and drug possession offences.
The seized items will undergo forensic examination, and further arrests and charges are expected.
Investigations under Strike Force Shuttleworth are continuing.
