Firefighters need government to come to table on fair pay

Tasmanian Labor

The Rockliff-Ferguson Government must get serious about negotiating a fair pay deal for Tasmania's firefighters and offer them more than their gratitude.

Police, Fire and Emergency Management Minister Jacquie Petrusma has today repeated the government's tired mantra that they will negotiate in good faith when frontline responders know that has been a hollow promise during previous negotiations.

It's terrific that Mrs Petrusma again and again today offered our frontline firefighters her gratitude.

But the simple fact is our firefighters want more than her gratitude - they require the government to come to the table with a fair pay deal that reflects their value and the current cost of living pressures.
