Fires Deliberately Lit In Camberwell And Burwood

Boroondara Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses following a series of suspicious fires at residences in Camberwell and Burwood.

The first incident occurred about 5.30pm on Sunday 11 August where an unknown male offender attended a residential address on Camberwell Road before lighting the front porch on fire. Emergency services attended the property and put out the blaze.

Later that evening, at 6.15pm the man has then attended a medical facility along Burwood Highway where he sets a pile of rubbish on fire. A witness has disturbed the offender, and he fled the scene.

The third incident occurred at a gas station on Middleborough Road where police believe the same offender has set a wheelie bin on fire around 2.50am. A passerby observed the blaze and called emergency services who extinguished the fire.

No one was injured during any of the three incidents.

Investigators have released CCTV and images of a person they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The offender is a Caucasian male, believed to be 25 years old, 185cm tall with short brown hair. He has been seen wearing a navy-blue Fila hooded sweatshirt, black Adidas tracksuit pants with a large Adidas logo on the left leg and Adidas trainers.
